Abstract

This study was carried-out at Antoniadis Research Branch, Horticultural Research Institute, Agriculture Research Center (ARC), Alexandria, Egypt during the two successive seasons of 2019 and 2020. In this study, we aimed to test the effect of different exposure time from microwave on increasing seed germination, vegetative growth and chemical constituents in Sophora secundifloraand Bauhinia purpureaseedlings. The seeds of each treatment were subjected to a different time of exposure to the microwave radiation for 0s (control), 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 25s and 30s in the first and second seasons, respectively. Seedlings were planted individually in 20 cm diameter plastic pots filled with mixture of clay and sand at the ratio of (1:1) by volume. The obtained results revealed that the exposure time from microwave showed significant increase in vegetative growth and chemical constituents. From the obtained results, it could be concluded that the highest mean in Sophora secundifloraand Bauhinia purpureaplant was scored as a result of exposure time at 5 second in the first and second seasons, respectively.
